How to Stop the Golf Shot Push? 5 Simple Steps to Hitting Straighter Golf Shots Today!

The golf shot push is one of the more frustrating shots hit in the game of golf. Also known as pushing the golf ball, blocking or even shoving it to the right of your target. What makes it difficult to accept is that for the most part it is a solid golf shot but for some reason goes to the right of the target. The problem is you end up finding yourself in a difficult position to try and get up and down for par.

The good news is that it can be fixed in a number of different ways. It just depends on which part of the golf swing that is impacting the most on your golf shot push. Unfortunately there are a few reasons that your shots are getting pushed out to the right. The following easy to understand steps will help you overcome these shots and start hitting the golf ball straight again.

1. Check the angle and the direction your shoulders are facing. By angle I mean when you face the golf ball at set up are you shoulders level and not with the shoulder closest to the target steeped or raised too high. It may seem obvious but check to see if your shoulders are facing your target and not out to the right. A good tip is to get a friend at the driving range to stand behind you and check to see which way your shoulders are facing.

2. Ensure you are rotating your hands and squaring the club face at impact. This should happen naturally but with many golfers the club face stays open and the result is the golf ball flying out to the right.

3. When you are swinging the golf club make a conscious effort to ensure your leading leg (closest to the target) remains flexed throughout the golf swing but particularly through impact. What happens with a lot of golfers is their leading leg collapses at impact and the result is the shoulders open up and club comes through impact on an inside outside path and the golf ball fly's out to the right.

4. Another thing to check is to ensure you are not too far bent over the golf ball at address. This causes the right shoulder to come under the golf swing too much forcing the swing path and the golf shot to travel out to the right.

5. The last step to fix the golf shot push is to avoid disconnection. What I mean is if your arms are becoming separated from your armpits on the follow through of the golf swing. If this is happening to you then it is a sure sign you are becoming disconnected. Luckily this is an easy one to fix. When you are next warming up or on the practice range, put a golf glove or a head cover under your armpits when you are making a golf swing. The golf glove and the head cover should remain in place and not drop to the ground if you are staying properly connected.

There you have it, some great tips and drills to put into place immediately that can really help you get rid of your golf shot push. Give them a try and enjoy some amazing results.
