Golf Swing Tips For Lower Scoring

The golf swing can seem very complex and difficult but like anything if you are willing to put in the practice then in time you will learn to master it and develop a high level of consistency. The first step is to learn how to grip the club. There are basically three main grip types and they are the interlocking, overlapping and baseball style grip. For most players they should go with the interlocking grip as it tends to work best in the game of golf for many reasons.

The Stance:

The width of the stance will vary depending on the club and will get wider to about shoulder width for the driver since you need the stability a wider stance provides for the longer clubs. Ball position should be at the center of your stance for the 9 iron and moves towards the left foot (for right handed players) until it is lined up with the left foot for the driver. Try to keep your spine straight and tilt from the hips slightly, let your arms hang down with gravity and hold the club at that position.

Keep the right hand passive in the golf swing as getting this hand too involved generally results in poor swings with early releases that will cost you both distance and accuracy. When it comes to tempo focus on moving at a pace that fits your personality so for some people this will be slow and deliberate while others will move a lot faster. Feel yourself pulling the club on the downswing as this will promote the right club head path and keep your head down and let the momentum of the swing bring your head up.
