It's important to have good golf swing mechanics if you are wanting to become a better golfer. Knowing how to go about improving your swing will help you reach your goals and get to where you want to be faster. Many good golf instructors will have an order or a system for how they go about trying to help a golfer improve their mechanics. Some teaching pros will try to completely overhaul a person's golf swing while others will simply give out band-aids or quick fix solutions. I personally believe there can be a happy medium where you can work with the swing you have and get it in better positions and incorporate correct fundamentals so you can play better.
Quick fixes can work for awhile but if you want long term results, I don't recommend this path. On the other hand, golfers who are trying to completely rebuild their golf swing can actually get worse before they get better and may not have the time to put in to take on such a project. If you are a golfer who wants to play better and wants a simple way to do it, I have simple solutions that can work for you.
When talking about golf mechanics, it's important to know where your setup and basic swing fundamentals are. Your grip, alignment, posture, etc. should all be first on your list when trying to get better. I recommend having drills or checkpoints to get into the right setup positions. You'll then have a way to monitor if you are doing this correctly. When you're comfortable and certain your setup is in proper order, the next step is to focus on is basic swing path and body movements in the golf swing. I really like to keep my golf instruction as simple as possible so that weekend golfers can still play relatively good golf and eliminate bad shots.

It's important to not get too caught up or focused on swing mechanics especially when you are actually out playing on the golf course. The driving range is the best place to work on your mechanics and technique. Try to incorporate the technical swing keys you are working on the range and then let it go on the golf course and focus on making good swings with good balance and tempo.
