Golf Tips For Beginners

Golf is a lot of fun to play and learn. Hitting the ball far is very enjoyable but keeping it straight is much more important if you want to be the best player you can be. Be sure to spend a lot of time on the short game as this is probably the fastest way to get better quickly.  The short game consists of putting, chipping and hitting bunker and wedge shots. Leave your ego at home and when you are at the range start by working on these shorter clubs as that is one of the secrets to becoming a better overall golfer and shooting lower scores faster.

Short game tips:

The short game requires a solid mental approach as well as regular practice in order to get really good at it. When putting you always want to make sure that you are putting to make each and every putt. Do not aim for a 3 foot circle because that is not the key to making more putts since you only introduce a greater margin for error. Even for extremely long putts focus on seeing the putt fall in the hole on the last rotation so just because a putt is really long does not mean that you have to think of hitting it hard or making sure it gets there, see it falling in the hole on the last rotation as that will ensure that even if you miss you should in most cases have a relatively short putt left.

Do not think too much once you are over the ball about to hit it. Simply take your last look at the target and then simply look and react letting the putt go freely towards the hole. This type of routine should also apply to the long game and really any other golf shot since thinking too much can introduce doubts and makes you perform poorly as it interrupts with your natural athletic ability. This is also an effective way to the cure the yips if you are struggling with that. The yips really is nothing more in most cases than just thinking too much and caring too much about the results of the putt. You need to be more carefree and let the putt go without being so obsessed with results.
