Golf Shotmaking Tips

The game of golf can have a lot of great benefits to offer to players of all levels. Being able to hit certain shots in different situations is important to learn and it can save you a lot of strokes. Learning to master different shots can make the game a lot easier as many holes favor certain shot types. Here are some tips to help you learn these different shots so you can have more fun out there on the course:

The Fade:

For right handed players the fade consists of hitting the ball left to right and it is accomplished by using a slightly open stance. This means that your feet at address should point to the left of the target and also you want to have a high finish to ensure that the ball gets the right kind of spin to make it go left to right. This type of shot generally goes pretty high and lands soft on the greens.

The Draw:

Many holes are shaped from right to left so executing a draw shot on these holes increases your odds of hitting the fairways. It is important to note that shaping the ball should be done with the 7 iron and longer clubs as short irons are not designed to impart side spin. Another useful thing to keep in mind to hit the draw is to make sure you have a slightly lower than normal finish. Also you want to make sure you have a slightly closed stance, this means that your feet should be pointed to the right of the target.

The Punch Shot:

This shot is very useful for getting under trees and keeping the ball low when the wind blows hard. In order to execute this shot you will want to put the ball a little further back in your stance and do not swing too hard otherwise this will put too much spin on the ball making it balloon up high into the sky.

Hitting a Hook Shot:

There may be times when hitting a hook may be your best option to get to the green or get out of a trouble situation. Hitting this shot is not too difficult and is similar to the draw but use an even more closed stance and make sure you have a lower finish than that of a draw.

Slice Shot:
