Golfing Tips For A Lower Handicap - ...could be arguably the most important aspect of golf if your objective is to shoot lower scores. Of course, hitting long drives is a lot of fun and no doubt you should spend time working on that part of the game too. The first component to learning how to putt is to pick a putting style and technique. There are many styles and putters that you can use to putt well so simply try several and then stick with one putter and putting style that you like. Do not fall into the trap of constantly changing putters or putting styles just because you had a few bad performances on the greens. How To Practice Properly When Working On Your Swing

Golf coaches the world over are constantly frustrated by the lack of improvement in golfers. Unfortunately both the coach and the student are to blame. The student doesn't know how to practice properly to improve their game and their golf swing and the coach isn't showing them how. To improve the swing it is best to think about it like going to the gym. In the gym, you lift weights or exercise to change your body. Doing it once doesn't really have an impact, but a sustained effort or program over 12 weeks does have an impact on your body. Most golfers might work on their swing for a week at most and then think they are cured as soon as the start to hit the ball well.

They stop consciously working on their swing and because the new pattern isn't established the old swing quickly returns. In two weeks they are back to where they started. The student then returns to the coach saying "I hit the ball well for a week and then I just lost it." The find it and lose it syndrome is one of the most frustrating aspect of the game.

So now you are asking how do I work on swing? You need to treat it like the gym and overload the pattern you are working on. Most golf teachers will prescribe a drill or practice activity for their students. It might be a swing feel or a practice aid that is being used. You need to work on your swing in a sequence of 3 balls, the first ball is going to be the drill or activity that you are doing, the second isn't really a ball at all but a practice swing in full speed that captures the feel of what you are trying to do. It is a full rehearsal without the ball. The third shot is a full shot, hitting the ball but without any conscious thought of the swing. The idea of this practice regime is that the 2 swings you made will gradually work their way into the full swing. This means that the difference between the drill, practice swing and full shot will become less evident as time passes.

This technique for improvement will also help to bridge the gap between the practice fairway and the golf course. Due to the full swing shot not having any conscious thought or control the player will be able to play on the golf course thinking about the target rather than trying to control their swing.
