There are few different golf grip types that can be used however the most popular and probably the most effective for most players is the interlocking grip. This is done by locking the small finger of the right hand with the index finger of the left hand. Grip pressure is important and keep it light for most shots. If you are in deep rough then you can increase the pressure to prevent club head twisting but apply more pressure with the left hand and keep the right hand at a very light pressure level.
Swing tips:
Once you have developed a good grip the next step is to learn how to setup and swing a club so you can hit the ball far and straight. One mental tip to keep in mind is that you do not want to think too much about swing mechanics when you are on the course. Instead spend enough time on the practice range learning the mechanics so that when you are on the course you can focus on targets and course management.
Bend at the hips when setting up to the ball and try to keep the spine straight. Do not stand too far from the ball, let your arms hang with gravity and hold the club when it comes to rest. Swing freely and release tension from your body before each swing. Focus on your targets and believe that you will hit a good shot each time you step up to the ball. Use some of the above golf grip and swing tips to help you improve at the game.
