Golf Driving Tips - Invaluable Driver Tips For Golf

How many times have you stepped up to the tee to drive the golf ball while thinking "I'm going to nail this thing" and next thing you know your golf ball is quickly being sliced right and into the rough just 100 -150 yards out? Not only did you not get the distance, but it will be a miracle if you can find the ball. Driving a golf ball can be quite challenging both for long time golfers and newer golfers.

I've been there many times (more so in the past than present thankfully).

There are a few invaluable tips for driving the golf ball.

Truth # 1: Nine out of ten golfers won't be able to keep up with you if you are able to do three pretty easy things (right now this is not about putting - more about that later).

--Keep yourself out of trouble whilst driving the golf ball. Keep in mind your focus should not be on drilling the ball a million yards in distance.

--When you are within 150 yards of the green, you should be able to get your ball on the green 7 out of 10 times.

--When chipping the ball, you should be able to get it within 20 feet of the pin nearly every time.

By the way, these three things are not that tough.

Today, we'll simply look at tips for improvement while driving the golf ball. This is something that is part of the simple golf swing. The key here is that it is easy to implement and we focus on just implementing 1 tip per week or so. This way, you are not inundated with information overload. This never helps.

Keeping out of trouble whilst driving the golf ball:

So what is it that ails your driving ability? Is it a slice, hook, draw, or just plain old inconsistency?

No matter what your issue might be, the excellent news is that there are a few simple things you can do to really help your golf driving ability and to ultimately help you get a better score. Obviously, if you have had a problem hooking the ball for 20 years, it's going to take some time, but we can do it with a little focus and effort. Let's just work on improving your driving ability.

A. Swing easy. I know you have heard this before, but focus on this for 1 week. Drive the golf ball with an easy and fluid swing. You will make more consistent impact with the ball, reduce side spin, and more than likely your ball will stay in the fairway more often. A 180 yard drive in YOUR fairway is better than a 300 yard drive in someone else's fairway or somewhere in the rough (of course you stand the chance to lose your ball altogether which also adds more strokes to your game). Do the fluid and easy golf driver swing for a week at the range before you play another game and the next time you play a game, you'll find that you have MORE playable balls.

B. Try using a low spin ball. Less spin means that your ball will travel in a straighter line and you'll be less likely to maintain a severe hook or slice whild driving the golf ball. Try the Titleist DT Solo, the Precept Laddie, or the Maxfli Noodle.

This really is an simple approach which is why the swing is called the simple golf swing. Using a low spin ball AND incorporating a slower and more fluid swing will help reduce the spin you naturally put on the golf ball AND will help ensure that you are driving the golf ball in the middle of the fairway more often. Dont worry, we'll also work on driving the golf ball farther, but let's first work on keeping it straight.
